The radio setup is now complete with the FT-897 for the MH, an IC-207 for the car and a VX-170 for portable use around the camp grounds so the wife and I can find each other.
She is going to get her tech license May 3rd.
We hope to camp ground host and do other volunteer work while full timing and I think this setup will work well for us. The home is now ready to sell so I can put it on the market and see what happens. But from what I hear we may be here for awhile selling it.
The good news is that the home and property are only worth what a rental payment or less will costs someone so maybe I am in the right market to sell.
Time will tell.
If anyone needs a ham friendly area and home there are no antenna restrictions, HOAs or CCRs here. All mine were taken down but the property still has a tower base (5'x5x'5' of concrete for self supporting towers)and underground conduit leading to it from under the house. One of the spare bedrooms has also been wired for an amp with 220v and extra 120v service as well.
There is also plenty of parking for an RV.

Wishing the wife well on her test...they're so much easier to deal with when they are licensed!!

Post some pics of the MH install!

The sad state of affairs for testing today is that my wife does not need much luck. Just from being around me all these years and learning some from listening to my QSOs over the years she was able to go to www.qrz.com and she took the tech test and passed 4 of 5 times without cracking a book. But the tech test is supposed to be easy.
And it's no big deal unless they upgrade and take over your HF station!
Yes I have lots of pix of the house I just took.
If you want information on it you can look at the ad I posted yesterday under Ham Homes on www.eham.net.
I have lots of information there and if requested I can send about 30 pix of the property.
So if you are an RVer and are coming off the road or want a place to base out of this could be it. Lots of parking for the RV too.
I know I sent a set of pix or two on the MH install via email to some members here. Those members were interested in where I located the AH-4 tuner and such at the time. I will look at how to post them here a try it.

OK, here we go on the pix. I don't know how this will come out.
The radio just sits very nicely using the front support on the dash. That way I can move it elsewhere if I want to.
The tuner is concealed in a void that was otherwise unused in the overhead.
The whip is a standard 102". Using this method you can always add wire to it with a clip and get more bands out of it.
Warning, mounting the antenna this high means you must tie it down when traveling! :radio:
OK, I got the tip. let's see if this method of posting works better for all.

You can post a picture by scrolling to the bottom of the page and click "go advanced" to bring up the post editor. Scroll down on the post editor page and you will see a button called "manage attachments" Click on that and it will bring up a tool to attach pictures and other files to your posts. You can browse your own PC (prefered) or enter a URL to get a picture from somewhere else.

Give it a try.
