Look at what I found here in Amarillo! Terra and I were driving around and running a local 2 meter net, just cruising and we stumbled upon this. I knocked on the door of the house near the bus, and the old fellow that answered said it wasn't his, he was just holding it for a friend--sure, that's what they all say! Anyhow, he said several folks had asked about the bus over the years but everyone lost interest when the owner lady quoted a price. He couldn't remember the price she had quoted before, so I left a business card. We'll see what the result is.

The bus is rough, and has not been converted. I don't know if I want to take on the project or not but this is exactly the make and model that Terra and I have been excited about. We had been considering purchasing a converted Flxible, and our goal was to purchase one in about two years. It would probably be much cheaper to play Bob Villa for ourselves though. I am real curious to see what the asking price is.

That would be a real "FIXER-UPPER" !
Wonder if it will run ?
Oh Well, everybody needs a project, at least once in their life.

Better think long and hard before tackling THAT, nice to dream about, but even if you bought it completed and in new condition today, you would have many undesirable issues to deal with in the future. If you win the lottery go for it, otherwise I suggest NOT.

That's the one I was thinking of.... John, you mentioned, "at least once in their life." That would be a life long project for me. Hi Hi.... I work slow and I don't know that I would have that many years left in me.:jitter:

At the time, Jeff Daniels owned that bus in the movie in real life.

Jim:
I'm 63 , have a fairly well equipped wood shop,am a retired electrician, not much of a mechanic though, and I would not even think of tackling such a project !
This is one for someone much younger and crazier than I am or at least someone with unlimited resources.
73, John

I am willing to tackle a project like this, but in retrospect, I prefer a model with a larger basement. The bus pictured below is for sale on the internet right now for $35k. Of course when we are able to afford it in about 2 years (cash--I hate loans) it won't be for sale! I'm sure there are more like it. We are dead set on having a classic bus, whether we build it or buy it--either way!

There's more money in Classic Thunderbirds. Of course, some of my friends restore classic Hammarlunds and Hallicrafters instead -- but they find there's not much money in that.
