I use a feed off the converter with a diode into a 17 ah gel-cell batt for my radios. Since I don't run over 50 w pep it works just fine. The converter(house batts also) keeps the gel-cell peaked up...

I too, did not like it when code was eliminated. I got my extra ticket when you had to learn the 20wpm element to pass. I also believe today, unless you have an 'older' radio with standard circuit...

I live 21 mi from the Arena, so our club goes every year. We are in the flea-market. You can find a good rig if you look and 'haggle'. We also have one of the repeaters that operates there as well....
