Default Pool noodle hints and tips...

Almost as handy as WD-40 or duct tape.

The ordinary pool noodle. Who'd have thought how handy. And on sale 1/2 off this time of year as the kids are going back to school.

Saw a thread on another forum where a guy measured and cut a noodle to fit vertically between the inside top of the microwave oven cavity and the turn table dish in the bottom. Keeps the glass turntable dish from getting broken while travelling. Thought that was pretty neat so I grabbed one at the drugstore on the way home today. Whacked off 9 1/4 in. and stuck it in the microwave.

Started looking around for uses of the other 3 feet or so of noodle.

Then I recalled having to repair the travel safety strap on the bedroom pocket door. Made a pool noodle door stop. Jam it up in there tight and the door will not move. Now the door can't build up a little momentum to bump against the strap.

Now I need a few more ideas for the rest of my noodle.

Trying to visualize what your closet door looks like and how it works. What's a pocket door?

My bedroom slide is the only one high enough that I could bump my face or head when walking around the rig. I took some 1' sections of noodle, slit them horizontally and slipped them over the outside edges of the slide face. Now if I walk into one of them, the only bruise is to my ego. Head, face, nose, and teeth all remain intact.

It's not the closet door, it's the entrance door from living area to the bath/bedroom. It disappears into the wall behind the potty.

It's called a pocket door because when open it disappears into the pocket, or slot, made into the wall.

Here's a map... You can't see the door, but it's above the step as you come into the bedroom area.

Aha. Actually I have a door, or partition, anyway, sort of like that. It's an accordionlike fanfold door that recedes into a slot in the wall. The top slides in a grooved piece on the ceiling, like what you show. I've also seen solid ones that don't fold but recede into a deep slot in a wall. Never knew what they were called. "Pocket Door" is a good name. I looked at a Country Coach once; it had a solid pocket door that was a pantry when pulled out. Wish I had one like that.

When mine is retracted, it's held by a retaining strap, but it sort of pushes against it and there's no slack. Gotta compress it a bit before you can fasten the strap.

Exactly. The pocket is as deep as the door is wide. The door travels on a track on the ceiling.

I had an aunt who had a double pocket door that opened into her dining room. The left and right hand doors disappeared into a wall that was about 8 in thick.

It was cool because when opened the doors were out of the way.

Earlier versions of this trailer had accordion doors, but at some point they went to the pocket.

They make good pipe insulation (can be slit with a razor knife) , door bumpers, antenna bumpers (if needed).

Placed over a lightweight piece of garden hose, they make pretty good nerf swords for teaching kids kenjutsu and iaido, without danger, at Judo camp. The swords in this photo are commercially made ones, but pool noodles would be every bit as good.

The little girl is executing a pretty good block, although she should stand a little straighter and hold the sword a bit higher.

A lot of guys make antenna bumpers out of them, cut into short (like 3 in) sections. When the big vertical lays over on the roof the noodle bumpers protect the rubber roof from damage.

UV light/weather eats them up though, so new bumpers get put on every year. But one noodle makes about 5 years worth!

I just can't resist posting this, though it isn't a very high-quality photo and has nothing to do with pool noodles.

These little girls just finished a practice match. Can you tell who won?

One of the joys of being an RVer is ... We think differently.

I volunteer at a thrift store. In order to handle both incoming donations and to process groceries for a food giveaway they had a storage building put up.. Roof opening is a bit low though, an even six feet (As I age I'm shrinking, I'm down to '6'2" so you can perhaps see a problem here.. "The boss" is also about my height..

I can tell you those 2x4's hurt

I took a couple of noodles and a 1x1 and slipped the noodles over the board.

A pair of lag bolts puts the bottom of the noodle at about 5'11"

Now.. that's just low enough I see it and duck.. but the boss says it works real good

The store I bought the noodles at.. Well the clerk and her 6"+ Hubby have a storage barn too... (Idea copied)

Ten minutes later they were sitting together and giggling.
