Default Where is the Lead shot?

For three years, I have traveled to Grice Gun Shop / Clearfield PA - for their sales and before hunting season - looking for lead shot for reloading shotgun shells.
Since the last smelter in the US closed there has been no source for lead shot in Pennsylvania.
I did see one sporting good store advertise that they had some for sale.
By the time I drove to the store they were sold out.
Is anyone else having this problem?

I though East Penn battery company still operated a lead smelter?
(Info current as of last spring)

They make Deka and MK batteries

http://www.amazon.com/Magnum-Lead-Sh...ords=lead+shot

$50 for a 25 lbs bag..

You can't hardly afford to reload shotgun shells for that amount of money...

I need to find a store that sells lead where I can drive to it and pick it up in person and not have to pay the shipping.

Try Zip Metals, in Cleveland, OH http://www.zipmetals.com or try the closest Bass Pro Shop.

Another thought... The real reason you might not be able to find Lead Shot is that due to enviormental concrns lead is being frounded upon.. It gets in our water and food and causes all sorts of issues (health problems).

However, that said, a very quick search on the words: Lead Shot

Found a whole bunch of sources still in existance,, Including Amazon.com.

I kept Grice in business for a few years back in the 90's.

I found some lead at a sporting goods store along RT 66 South of Lucinda.

$50 for #25 lbs...

When I came home, the Bob's Army & Navy paper was in the mail.
$25.00 for 10 rounds of 3 1/2 inch Nitro Mag Turkey Loads...
Outrageous...

I would say that Obama didn't get rid of the guns, he just raised the price of the ammo to the point of where you can't afford to buy it anymore!

We have been using Lead for hundreds of years, why all of a sudden is it bad for us?
It isn't the lead, it is the people using the lead improperly.
If I walk out into the Game Lands and a Pheasant flies out and I shoot at it, regardless if I hit or miss it, the lead lands on the ground and is worked back into the soil the next time the farmer plants a crop in the food plot.
The birds themselves have been stocked and they do not have an infinite life expectancy.

When hunting ducks, I can see your point.
The fish might eat some of the pellets while they are falling in the water.

If the fish if not cleaned properly might have some lead inside of them.

If a bird eats the fish, the bird gets lead in it also.

The water pipes in Rome were all Lead and people used them for thousands of years and no one got sick or died because of the lead pipes.
Calcium and algae and other things builds up inside of the pipes and the pipes are then insulated from the water.
It isn't until someone disturbs the pipe that the lead is exposed again and then you have exposure to the lead.

No Obama had nothing to do with it all there has to be is even the slightest talk of some gun law sense and the gun owners run right to the store and start buying ammo by the pickup load and that runs the price up and depletes the supply. It happen regular as clock work no matter who is in office. It puts a big dent in our P.D's budget yeah we have to practice also.
