Default 5th Wheel operating position

Trailer is back home from the shop and I though I'd give the new operation position a "Systems Integration Test" although it's more like a "Systems Staging" because I never actually powered it all up and made any contacts. I just wanted to know if I had all the bits and wasn't forgetting anything. Besides, it's all out of the house radio room and it all works there.

My brother and I made this little table that's just big enough for the radio, a few small boxes and the logging laptop. Don't know if I'll use the cushy "barrel" chair or pull one of the dinette chairs over. There were two barrel chairs and one has been stored in Sweet Wifes music teaching room at the house.

See you on the air the week after Christmas, live from Dauphin Island!

Hey, Radio, I hope you have a way to tie that table down! You can't be in the coach in motion, but I'd imagine that it could get lively.

I'm just going to lay it over on its side with the top on the edge of the slide out carpet. That works with the barrel chair. If it gets ambulatory on me then there are some tie down I can use.

I struggle with operating position myself. I have a TS2000 and simply put it on the dinette table with the lcd computer screen on top. There is still room for the DW and I to eat - play cards etc. I store the rig and secure it in the overhead storage cabinets when travelling. I have not really considered a permanent installation location so to speak.

I have seen some creative ideas with rigs in modified plastic crates - and secured with mounting brakets -- basically rig is protected and you simly connect power antenna and mic / key when you operate.

Good Luck
Mark
