Default Click, Click, Click

We are back. We are here to stay. Now what can the average ORR.net family member do to help out?

1. Click on the Google ads. Especially the ones that are "on topic" This does two things: Each click generates a few cents of revenue to keep the bills paid.
And Google tracks the clicks, if no one ever clicks the ones about mortgages or the one with the banana, they will go away and be replaced by more ads for stuff we are interested in. And then our ads are worth more to the advertisers, making each click worth more.
Don't go crazy with the ads, Google knows when you do that.

2. "Like" ORR.net using the Facebook tool. People see the "like" on your FB page and find ORR.net that way. Also, it makes a dandy back channel communications tool.

3. Use the tags tool at the bottom of the page. Search engines love these. It allows people out surfing the net to find us more easily.

4. Visit us and post often. And have fun. And invite your radio/camping friends.

Open Roads Radio is mostly like an extended family (and sometimes like a zoo. Or maybe a circus.) In any case, a fun, welcoming place. If we take care of it, it will grow.

Wade, what happened to the 'Support Us' link? I'd like to PayPal a donation.

Andy, at one time we had a list that was maintained of those who donated and the amount they donated. I don't know if that's a good idea or not. I certainly do not wish for anyone to be embarrassed for not donating. But..... We all have to realize that there are expenses involved in the operations. Many of the forums I've been on ask for donations and i sure don't have a problem with that. Wade should not have to bare all that burden. He has been effected by this down economy on more then one occassion. Just my 2 cents and no offense intended.

I rather naively took it down expecting the ads to more that cover the expenses. Needless to say that ain't happening.

What I am hoping for is a small group of advertisers who will advertise with us directly. And I'm working on it.

If you wish to donate, go to PayPal and deposit the funds in [email protected]. I need to set up something easier. On my to do list.

I apprecite you 'splaining how those Google ads worked Wade. I'll try to do that. Over on another forum I'm involved in, the forum folks started running ads and a lot of them with "big busted women". They were more like hooker ads then legitimate ads. I think they intentionally did it to get folks to pay to rid themselves of the ads. They want $4.95 a month to go ad free. Of course the server space and forum is a free set up, so you cannot complain a lot. The sight is freeforums.com.... The software they use is not near as nice as the software in use here. vBulletin is the MOST popular and by far the best and most user friendly.

Google Ads allows you to block any ad that might be offensive. It is also intelligent enough to look at your content and determine what is of interest to forum viewers. Thus, no "dancing girls" on ORR.net.

And vBulletin is the best by far of any forum software out there. It provides a pleasant no-hassle environment for the membership. Very powerful stuff. And a real bear to get your mind around when you try to admin the thing!!

I agree Jim. Sent in my donation to Wade yesterday, just wasn't sure how to do it with just his email. Figured it out though.
