Default Interesting Phone APP's

Didn't know where else to post this so here go'es !

Our Daughter told me about a smart phone app she uses called "HEYTELL" which was devolved to help with the texting while driving thing.
What it do'es is allows you to SPEAK a message (nothing really new here) but then delivers and stores it to the other phone like a text/voice file to be played back later and or saved (still nothing new AKA "voice mail").

The next APP. is interesting, it's called "Loudtalks" and has been around a bit and has a "LITE" version (the one I use).
Loudtalks, similar to "HEYTELL" is a voice chat program for cell phones but here's the twist, it not only can be put on the phone but there is a version to go on your PC as well.
Now what I've done with this is set-up two accounts, one for the PC and one for the phone both with the same screen name (almost) so that I don't have to remember to log off one and log on to the other going in and out of the house as I frequently do.

Both App's are PTT like "NEXTEL" or "SOUTHERN LINK" offers and you do have to wait for the "BEEP" when in use and both have their specialized uses but both function well once set-up.

I actually have both installed on my cell phone.

Google them and do your own research they both have some interesting possibility's .

Finally got a 'Smart Phone', now I gotta catch up. Thanks for posting John, those apps sound interesting.

Talking

I guess my phone qualifies as a "smart" phone. It has no wires attached. When it rings, I can talk to the person calling. When I punch in 10 numbers, someone generally answers and I don't have to turn a crank to make it work. Will wonders never cease?

Thanks John. I may look at that, although my Droid has a voice interpreter to text.

I use heytell too. Out of habit, when ending the conversation I usually inadvertently sign with my FCC call! Welcome to the civilized world now that you have a smartphone! Here's some more cool applications that are camping and ham radio related that I posted here about a year ago:

I've been playing with "LOUDTALKS" for a couple of day's now and while it works well on the PC and on the cell phone one of the drawback's I have found is that on the Cell Phone it is a power hungry application ( drained the battery in less than a day ) .
I am told by their support people that there is a new version coming out that is more power / battery friendly, guess we'll see.

John, that appears to be the problem with several of my Droid apps. I have to be careful or I won't have a phone to talk on. Most use a lot of battery.

Jim:
You're post reminded me of this video about texting versus cw. You might have already seen it, but here it is again...
