January 09 Quartzsite Anyone?
Finally going to Quartzsite, AZ in less than (2) weeks after several years of procrastination. Will be camped out somewhere on BLM land about 5-6 miles north off US95 (Plumosa? exit). Small group of us going with ham radios I'm sure to keep in touch along the way. One of my friends is into "geocaching" which I've never done, not quite sure how it works and always interested in doing new things, so looking forward to that.
Spent the holidays making sure the Yaesu FT-880R is working to optimum in the MH and installed a new antenna on the rear Saturn hatchback with my older Yaesu FT-7100M, which I know has mixed reviews but actually works very well, (looking for wood).
Hope all had a good holiday and brought in the new year the way you wanted to!
Anyone else going?

Most of the hams camp about 4-5 miles south on SR-95 on the west side of SR-95 (Fairly close to the road) I can't off hand remember the mile marker... I usually park about 3 miles south but won't be there this year
There is a fairly large group of hams. they set up a portable IRLP repeater and everything, very interesting. They have speakers, seminars, and a swap & shop all there off the road
Just in case you wish to change your parking spot.
I visited that site in '07, Alas, I have not been able to go back since, but I'm hoping to make it back next year.. or the year after.

Thanks for the info John. I recognize you from your call sign on RV.Net. I'll be sure to check out the other side of of 95 for the swap meet which I hate because I always find something to buy. Maybe you'll make it next year!

Well, in addition to RV-Net there is a group known as RVforum.net
They park 3 miles south in Tyson's Wash That's where I normally park when I go there.. However alas till the house sells.. I'm kind of stuck in Detroit.

Thanks, I'll give that one a try as well. Hope you sell your house and move around a little. Really looking forward to Q at least it'll be different from the normal camping locations we visit which is either RV type parks or SP.

Too far away for me, until DW retires anyway.
