Default Do you like the 70cm band? Then READ THIS

If you have not heard about Bill HR 607 then you need to read this.

Congress has a proposed bill that would remove the 70cm band from amateur radio use.

ARRL has posted a video explaining what the bill is about at the following link.
http://www.arrl.org/hr-607

If you would like to write a letter to your representative voicing your concerns and opposition to this bill, Richard Haltermon, KD4PYR, has created a website that makes it very easy to develop a letter for your Congressional representative regarding HR-607 (the bill that would sell off 420-440 MHz).

http://www.kd4pyr.net/hamletter.htm

This is as easy as it gets folks! Just enter your callsign and it does the rest.

Did 2 Reps and 2 Sens about 3 weeks ago via ARRL. If you want to keep the band, better let the right people know.

With all the vacating of the old analog TV frequencies do they really need to take from us?

We are like the kids of yore, except we aren't seen and we are not heard.

If nothing else, think of the monetary issues at stake...The repeaters, radios, equipment that is used on this band. The ISS uses this band a lot....You would think that they would understand the implications...Oh wait this is congress

Have read it.. One thing that many hams may not know.. The 70 CM band is where many remote operations are performed.. Example a remote base, or a repeater's remote receivers often are operated or report to the transmitter site via 70 cm band. Thus this bill not only affects the 70 cm band but much of IRLP, much of Echonet and most all 2 meter repeaters as well.

I know that If I want to make our local repeater( the antenna is 12 or 13 miles away) with my handy talkie, the only way is to use the 70cm/2m cross link repeater nearer to my house.
Without that cross link, I couldn't communicate through the repeater from my QTH using a handy talkie. Minor point to be sure, because I am capable of reaching it through other means.

I've written one of my Reps, plan to write the remaining for our district. I mentioned the ISS, emergency management and a few other things that greatly concern us all. Cannot wait for a response.
