Default Flat on my back on top of the fifth wheel

Perhaps tonight or early tomorrow morning I'll go out to the yard an climb up on top of the fifth wheel and see if I can see a few of the Perseid meteors as they impact our atmosphere at a reported 140,000 mph.

As it is parked the inclines of the roof would allow me to lie down on it and face either due east or west. I'm told there may be issues with the full moon.

And as an added perk, the International Space Station will be visible crossing over middle Georgia from the south west at 74 deg elevation about 10:00 pm EDT or so.

Haze, full moon, then some rain.

About 4:00 am I went out and stood around and saw a few, just enough to say I had seen them this year. Oh well, there's always next year.

And the Geminids, later this year.

You can plan ahead....http://www.theskyscrapers.org/meteors/ ...if you like to see rocks fall out of the sky!

I drug the girls out about a month ago and we all watched the ISS go by. We have also seen several meteor showers. Was out last night and we all took turns gazing at the very bright and full moon.

The girls still talk about when I drug them out of bed at 3 am when they were about 5 and 6 to watch a very active meteor shower. It was early in the year (maybe February) and I laid out the sleeping bags in the back yard and we watched the show for about an hour. Good times!
