Default Finally, we get the camper on the road for 2010

Taking 4 nights in one of our favorite nearby state parks.

http://www.gastateparks.org/net/go/p...D=65&s=0.0.1.5

Gonna break out the dutch oven for peach cobbler, grill some steaks, sit and stare mindlessly at the water and let the frogs and crickets lull us to sleep.

I love that goofy looking beaver Georgia Parks has on their web site!

About 36 hours until we leave...counting the minutes....

Have fun Wade! Our WX here is cool and rainy, 37 in NH and 46 in CT. Waiting for better WX before we head back up north.

Wade.. Let me explain the mistake you make every year

The proper way to winterize a motor home or trailer is to strap a snow shovel or better yet a snow blower on the front of the rig and drive, usually South, till someone looks at it and says "What the )()@! Is that thing"

And that is where you winterize.. Both the rig and you (It is called the 'S' methopd.. S for South)

I found my spot 3 miles from Georgia on I-85 in South Carolina last winter, and will again this coming winter.

So the mistake: Parking it for the winter

It's not the weather that keeps the rig parked in the yard. Let's review a scene from the movie "The Right Stuff"

"Do you know what makes your rockets go up?"
"Well, to explain the physics alone would take..."
"FUNDING! That's what makes your rockets go up! No bucks, no Buck Rogers!"

Let's just say that the recession is still on at our house. Good thing the ol' barn is paid for, or we would be out on the street!

But we are having a wonderful time at Indian Springs State Park. Going now to put steaks in the marinade and slice up some taters. Yum!

Glad to hear you folks are having a good time Wade. Well deserved I'm sure.

Talking about funds Wade. Our little community had it's annual Tupelo Honey Festival yesterday. There were more people and more vendors there then we had seen in several years. I'm not sure they were buying though. My son Chris (N4XCI) was there with his Law Enforcement oriented Explorer Scout group. They were burning burgers and dawgs to raise money for the troop. They did not do near as well as expected. Maybe it was just their cooking.

I guess you will be headed home today?

No, we go back Monday, tomorrow. One more day in paradise.
Tinkered around with the TW2010 antenna and the Kenwood TS570.
Heard the whole world, but couldn't get by the "big guns"
Oh, well.

Alas, the camper is back in the yard and I must return to reality. Bummer. The good news is I backed it down the driveway without profaning at the thing not even once. I've either got better at backing up or I have learned to be more patient.

Will post cool pictures tomorrow.

Default Pictures from the trip...

With 50 out of 88 spaces available, the guy with the spider parks next to us.

The seafood special at the Piggly Wiggly in Jackson, GA was frog legs. I do not generally eat reptiles.

I like a generally deserted campground, the quiet was really nice.

Last pic is Sweet Wife making S'mores. I wanted to have a campfire to stare at. She said no. Then she got a craving for S'mores. I got my fire!

I know how you feel Wade. Our trips seem to be very short and very long apart.

We were supposed to go this weekend with a homeschool group, but we are heading to DFW for the weekend instead.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!
