For now, the same dual band homebrew copper cactus j-pole I built my first week as a ham. I plan to upgrade to a GP-9 equivalent soon though.

Depends on the radio:

Cockpit dual bander: Diamond NGP dual band antenna.

TS-2000 in "Radio Room" 2 meters: home jade twin-lead J-Pole (Design in QST more years ago than I care to admit) This is my most usable 2-meter antenna, it is a 3/4 wave length piece of common 300 ohm flat lead, a notch is cut at the 1/4 wavelength position in ONE lead, The center of the coax is fed to the other side, about 4-6 inches from the bottom, shield goes to the "Short" section directly across from the center, bottom is shorted. I have several of these, this one is then pulled up inside a 1/2 inch PVC pipe bolted to the rear cap.. Another the flat lead (and coax) are simply coiled for storage or depending on the antenna a nylon line is tossed over a tree an and hoisted or a pin in a curtain.

70 cm on the TS-2000 is a roof mount. 5/8 wave.

I use a Larsen thru glass mount, mounted to the top of the drivers side window. I had to modify the window from a dual pane to single pane for it to work, but it works great now. The modification to the window was simple. I smacked it with a hammer.:D

I have this mag mount stuck on the pin box. The coax runs along the bottom of the trailer body, down the front and into the battery vent. There is a slit in the battery vent tube, the coax runs through that and across the storage area to the back of the entertainment center. The dual-bander is inside mounted in the entertainment center. The antenna stays put all the time.

Works great. Had the antenna in the basement so total cost was nothing.

A dual band Diamond on the truck and a DIY dual band j-pole hoisted atop the fifth wheel when parked.

BTW, KF7NJC is a newbie here.

So give him a hard time.

On the truck I use a Yaesu FT857D and the ATAS for 6m to 40m. For VHF and UHF I use a dual band Larsen, NMO mount on the right side, hood edge.

I use halo antennas for both bands, but only when stationary.
Oh, and I am SSB/CW only on those bands too.
