Hi everyone -- I'm fulltime in a 35 foot diesel pusher, and very new at it. Planning to go to Dayton Hamvention, but haven't reserved in any campground yet. Advice, please! Where would YOU go if you were me?

Carl,
Have you checked the Dayton web site? They may have some camping RV info there.
Good Luck and have fun, I've been there twice in the '80s.

I have a large rig and have prestige parking at Dayton that I am not going to be able to use this year SO you may have my space. No hook ups, if that is a necessary this will not work.
I park on the street on Trinity Church Rd one block east of Hara. If you arrive Thursday you will will not have a problem finding a place to park. If people walk by and say nice shack you know you are in the right place

And with that we welcome K5HAB into the ORR.net family.

Wow, Pete -- looked you up by callsign -- I can easily dry-camp for that time. How do I proceed? I'm really new at full-timing, and also have no idea what prestige parking is. What do I need to know, and do? How identify the space, and how let whoever's in charge know I'm not trying to steal a space.

Carl, change your QRZ locator map to your present location.

Wondering where you are in Tallahassee, I'm there too.

I left Tallahassee on December 28. I'm in Tualatin, OR (a suburb of Portland). What's a QRZ locator map? I'm new at this, only been a ham for 55 years. :headphones:

After the subscribing to QRZ.
Log into QRZ.com, in the top right corner enter your call and password, then in the page top right corner click on your call. In the drop down menu click edit(NN5I) and on the new page set up your information from the menu you see. The map is something that anyone knowing your call can enter in the box on the home page and click enter to see your information front page or click on "Detail" to see your detail page and your locator map, which enables others to see where you are in relation to them and gives the line of sight distance between the to two of you. There are many useful features in/to QRZ, explore and enjoy. Try everything, you can not break anything.

When I remember, I change the map every time we change location.

You've got to be pulling my leg, every ham knows about QRZ.

I have also been a Ham for 55 years.

Actually not kidding. I've heard of QRZ.com, but never visited it. Maybe one of these days ...

Unable to contact K5HAB -- hope he's OK -- so I'll be staying at Poor Farmers RV Park, about 35 miles north of Dayton. If anyone else on ORR will be there, look for a mostly-white Damon Intruder with Florida license plate AGQ D24 and stop to say hello. It's a 35 foot diesel pusher with three short antennas on the front edge above the windshield. I'll likely get there a day or two early. Old friend Bud Johnson, WI5G, will be coming up from Dallas area, and we'll probably go visit the air museum at Wright-Patterson AFB before Dayton starts. We're both old, un-bold pilots. Join us!
