Caught this cell phone pic at work today of a 747 parked next to her younger cousin the 757.
The 757 is not a "wide body" aircraft, but it still is a pretty big airplane. The 747 dwarf it by comparison.

Holy Cannoli.... that's a big plane.
Always amazes me that these huge metal tubes fly through the sky (even understanding the physics....)

Could not find a good comparison, but the an-147 is larger than a B747.

The yellow DHL cargo plane in Andy's pic is a B-767, for comparison. Not to mention all the itty-bitty people walking around.
Interesting. The C-5A and the 747 are almost the same size, both slightly longer than the Hughes H-4 (Spruce Goose), but the H-4 has a much greater wingspan. Then there's the Antonov AN-224 and the Airbus A380.
747: overall length 231-250 feet, span 195-224 (there are many variants)
C-5A: length 247 feet, span 222
H-4: length 219, span 320
AN-224: length 226, span 240
A380: length 239, span 262
So I think the Spruce Goose still wins the prize for being biggest. Me, I druther have a Navion, or a Stearman.

Speaking of 747 variants, give NASA a used 747 and they'll do something fun with it...
