So the bottom of the sun falls off. How does this effect propagation?

No need for alarm. Seems this happens now and then, but now we have cool telescopes to look at it with. But still wondering about propagation.

I used to see Northern lights quite often growing up on the farm in SW Iowa, there wasn't any light pollution out there. The best I ever saw it was from the cockpit of a MU-2 at 17,000' over the UP. The pilot said he had been flying there for 3 years to the construction site and never saw it so bright. It was like spears coming at you and you wanted to duck even though it was still 50 miles over the top of you.
