A fine choice. If you're looking to purchase one of the heavier fiver's, a dually is a preferred choice. I pull a 11K# fiver with a '12 F250 Diesel with the 10K# GVWR option. Pin scales at 1,500# so it's not a problem. I did add the Firestone RideRite airbags just to level things out.

If one radio is good, two is much better. :giggle:

Are you looking to full time or occasional extended trips.

Might want to look at different trailers based on what your goal is.

We pulled a 30 ft fifth wheel with our 2500 Chevy for about 18 months( waiting for wife's new hip to heal right now) and had a blast!

Have fun shopping for your new trailer!

The plan right now is...I'll be retiring in late fall 2019...button up the house after the last yard mowing and head southwest....piddle around AZ, NM, TX through the winter and see how we like it. If it's a go then we come back to Indiana and put the place up for sale in the spring while we move a few things we want to keep to storage. At that point we'd be fulltimers.

Sounds like a good plan.
I noticed you live in Crawfordsville. We lived for about 3 years in Noblesville, visited your area a few times, seems like I remember a nice canoeing river over your way.

I was KD9LG back then (1980's) and got my current call when we moved to Kansas City area in 1987.

Not a Ford fan but.. If you are.. The F-350 is a good choice..

I've driven F-150's (Bob tail) and frankly though I liked the layout of the controls in the driver's cockpit better than anything else I drove.. The Truck scared the crap out of me when I went around corners, had a tendency to oversteer due to lack of weight on the rear.. I've also driven a F-350 Custom 12' Straight truck.. Nice ride. The F-350 Pick up is likewise much better designed than the 150.

You're right...I will want a radio in the new truck...unsure what just yet. I've got a FT-857D installed in my other truck and I hardly ever use the HF capabilities....so I'm wondering if a 2 meter radio wouldn't suffice. I suspect a CB might prove useful at times. Anything I install will be a challenge when coming to where to mount the head unit. Fortunately I've got plenty of time to figure it out.
