Getting Acquainted and Expectations

1.We are not affiliated with any other entity, web site, company or club with the words “Open Road” in their name.

2.This forum is devoted to Amateur Radio and RV travel or camping. An Amateur Radio License is not required, nor do you have to own an RV. But the interest must be there, or you’ll get bored here pretty quick!

3.Assume your mother, kids and Sunday School teacher are reading everything you post. Because somebody’s mother, kid or Sunday School teacher probably is. Be respectful and mind your manners.

a.There will be no flaming.

b.There will be no insulting, direct or indirect, of individual persons or people groups.

c.Please do not hijack threads. Try to stay on topic. It’s hard, we know!

d.We understand the idea of free speech. However, when you go to school, or to a wedding or a ball game, certain decorum is expected and so it is here. Please avoid those topics common sense indicates would be inflammatory, particularly politics and such where there is likely to be strong disagreement.

e.The use of profanity or vulgar language will get you banned in short order.

4.We have forums dedicated to social chatting, goofing off and having fun with friends. Chat there instead of in the technical topic forums. Again, do not use someone else’s thread as your own “Instant Messenger.” There is a Private Message tool members may use.

5.We are in the business of helping people get started in Amateur Radio and RV Travel. We love to answer questions and solve problems. If you can help, jump right in. If you need help or have questions by all means ask! These friendly folks will be happy to help.

6.Copyrights and ownership of content:

a.This site is registered with the U.S. Copyright Office. The material posted herein is the property of the Original Posters. Do not use material from this forum without written permission from the specific user/poster.

b.Likewise, please do not post copyrighted material from other sources. Instead, we suggest you link to those sources.

c.You may post your own material here and anywhere else you wish as long as it really is your original content.

7.You need to be at least 15 years old to join here. We love kids but younger people would likely get bored. The administrators may approve exceptions.

8.There is no limit to the number of visits Guests may make. Guests may not post and not all forums are open to guests. Some forums are restricted to members only. So join!

9.When you join we will verify your e-mail address and may verify your call sign. This is to keep the forum free of spammers and trolls. Your information is safe and will not be shared or sold. Barring extreme circumstances no one from Open Roads Radio Forum will ever contact you by email. If you falsify membership information, including amateur radio call sign, you will be banned.

10.We value your opinion. As a member you may PM any of the administrators or moderators with a concern or comment at anytime. Administrators and moderators are identified by title under their screen names. There is also a Feedback Forum for member suggestions and comments.

11.Avatars and Signature files:

a.Try to keep pictures just big enough to clearly see. We recommend no larger than 150 x 150 pixels for avatars.

b.You may have URLs in your signature but we ask that you not have clickable links.

c.Do not use your signature as an advertisement for a commercial venture.
