I just found this forum and wanted to introduce myself. I have been an armature radio operator for just over ten years but had used radios while in the military during my fourteen year tour. I have setup a Kenwood TS-480HX in our class A.

Howdy and welcome to ORR! I am new here also, but it seems to be friendly place and the folks here have lots of creative answers. Where did you serve? I did 2 years at Fort Bragg & 3 years in Bamberg Germany as an artilleryman.

I spent all my time state side at such exotic places like Cherry Point NC, Beaufort SC, Millington TN, Yuma AZ, Tuston CA, and of course that great vacation spot in Panama called Jungle Warfare School. I started out in the Marines and finished up in the Guard and Reserves.

Welcome Fletch :welcome: hope you like it here.
I see you are using the same Tarheel antenna as I. Your installation looks very nice and user friendly. Do you use the radio when driving. I do not.

What is your call and where do you hangout? From the antenna picture it looks like you are tuned @ 20M or higher.

Are you a Fulltimer?

JIM :)

Thanks for the compliments. I can tune 20 through 160 with the long whip and 10 to 160 if I change to a shorter whip but with less performance. I welded a second receiver tube for the Tarheal 300 so I can still tow if I want to. I do not operate while in motion except to monitor channel 19 when the traffic backs up to figure out which lane to get into. We do not full-time just use the MH for vacations and long weekends. My call is K4DCF and I tend to troll 20 and 40 on the weekends as well as check into various nets.

Here is a pic of the whole MH, she is a 34' Fleetwood Terra
