ORR Nets?

Are we still doing EchoLink nets and is the schedule still current? I would love to check in!

Funny...I was elected Parade Committee Chairman at our ARC the exact same way! I will try to generate interest somehow. Maybe if we tried just once each week? Seems like 8:00 (2000) EST on Mondays was the best compromise. Maybe an HF net would do better. Of course I don't have HF and someone else would have to be elected, lol.

We have a local VHF net on a repeater every Monday evening at 6PM CT. You are welcome to check in. Just connect via Echolink to W4WEB-R. We often have out of towners check in. Join us, it's very informal and you will probably notice most of the folks are new hams. I think we have 18 new hams in our small county.

Chris (KE5ZRT) it was good to have you on the Gulf Amateur Radio Society Net tonight. I was really surprised because I had only posted the message about 30 minutes before net time. Thank you for checking in via Echolink.

W4WEB-R is on 147.30 MHz,located in Port St. Joe, FL. Come to think of it, I think my son Chris (N4XCI) has that posted on the EL site.

We had an ORR Net going once on Echolink. Everyone got busy with other activities I guess. It was really very nice to chat with some of the guys, even it we did cheat by using Echolink.:whistle:

I'm new to Rving and Ham - only have Tech lic so HF not available to me. From what I've read about echolink, sounds like that is the best option to get the most people involved, including newbies like me!

I agree with you Bill. I'd love to get on HF and have a good net, be we are so scattered out we cannot all hear each other. Anyway, just MHO.

There is this net "EARLY BIRD TRANSCONTINENTAL" that I enjoy on3.940 KHZ.
I can hear most of the guys check in and they are all first class people.

I have heard WA8YXM check in on it.

Check in starts around 1:30 AM EST with friendly chit chat and goes until 6:00AM when the frequency is returned to general use. Maybe listen and check in and if we hear each other we could continue right after the net.

We could also participate in the net and offer up general conversation.

Would anyone be interested in holding an Echolink Net once a week again? I'll be more than happy to set up my station to handle the net if no one else wants the task. You know we did the weekly Echolink Net for awhile, a member down in south Florida hosted it. I think his name was Jim also. Seems as though he got busy working for NASCAR and it sort of fell apart. I'm ready to start it up again if anyone is interested?

I'll be more than glad to participate in an HF Net if someone would like to take that bull by the horns. Just need a date, time and frequency and I'll do my best to be there.

I am more than willing to participate in an HF net if anyone wishes to tackle that. I'm not attempting to undermine that vote. Echolink is just the most dependable right now and the fastest.

The software is free at http://www.echolink.org/download.htm (http://www.echolink.org/download.htm)and all you need is a microphone headset for your computer. Also, if you have a Droid or iPhone you can download the EchoLink application for your device for free too! I think it is easier to use my Droid phone rather than the laptop.
