My Hoosier doesn't work worth a darn anymore. But my Tarheel sure does! .

On topic: Just guessing here... but if the ladder is bonded / grounded to the body & the frame I'd suspect you'd get out 'bout as well (or better) as with a Tarheel-car-mobile installation.

I love my lil' Tarheel on my Towncar. No radials there... Just trunk-lip mounts. Worked Georgia from the California / Nevada state line a couple years back with an Icom 7000 on 40 meters late afternoon.
