We spent a lot of time in that area in the late 70s and 80s when we first got into RVing and out of tents. I was born and raise just North of SF.
We ever did Thanksgiving during a blizzard once with the family. Snowed so hard we could not leave when we had to go back to work. Had lots of food and propane and did not care. Our bosses were not too happy but that's life.
I can also remember having to cancel reservations at Yosemite due to snow at our higher selected camp site. We were passing over Donner Summit when we got caught in a snow storm in the first week of June if I remember right. Stranger things have happened.
I really preferred the days when that area was not so expensive and a little less populated however. But then again my home town grew from some 35k to nearly 100k before I left CA in 93.
I also spent a lot of time in and around Bodega Bay and North to Fort Ross during the years there.
