Placed over a lightweight piece of garden hose, they make pretty good nerf swords for teaching kids kenjutsu and iaido, without danger, at Judo camp. The swords in this photo are commercially made ones, but pool noodles would be every bit as good.
The little girl is executing a pretty good block, although she should stand a little straighter and hold the sword a bit higher.
