Zeesh. I guess it's all a matter of perspective. Right now (10 am) it's about 54 F here in Tallahassee, which to me seems unpleasantly cold.
On the other hand, my early life (during WW2 and a little after, age a few months to 6 yrs) was spent in Connecticut [Groton -- my father was in submarines in WW2] and I don't recall that the winters were anything but fun-in-the-snow. How we change. One winter, when I was five or so, the water tower, 100 yd or so behind the house, froze, leaked, and sprayed the surrounding thicket, coating the branches and twigs with clear ice. The day was clear and sunny. For my sister and me it was a crystalline wonderland.
