Default Team PARC Walk MS was a Success!

I wanted to make you all aware of some recent club activity and community service. The Panhandle Amateur Radio Club (PARC), in Amarillo, sponsored a team for Walk MS by purchasing t-shirts for the team. The t-shirts, designed by Terra Seright, KE5ZRU, featured Morse Code font on the front advertising the Panhandle Amateur Radio Club and the phrase "Get Your Freq On!" on the front of the shirt. The back of the shirt featured the Walk MS logo, the PARC logo, and the ARRL logo. Several club members donated to Team PARC and and many more of the donations came from hams on Twitter! Team PARC consisted of: Dan McCabe, WA8YYE and his wife Phyllis; John Robinson, WD5FOI; Terra Seright, KE5ZRU; and Chris Seright, KE5ZRT.

Team PARC walked 2.25 miles, and raised a total of $511 dollars for Walk
MS. The total amount raised during the event was over $75,000! This was a fun event, and a great opportunity to support a charitable cause, and also an opportunity to advertise and share the amateur radio hobby with the public.

Photos from the event:

Great job Chris! Congrats to team PARC!
Our local repeater club The BEARS of Manchester (W1BRS.com) did comms for a 5 mile MS Walk on April 10th. Not sure how much was raised, but there were over 1000 walkers. It was a lot of fun and a good feeling to be able to help out.

Good work Chris and thank you for the nice post. My son, Chris (N4XCI), is involved in that locally, for the Sheriff's Office here and the Explorer Scout Troop he oversees. It has turned out to be a big operation for them.

And, thank you Andy for your participation. It's a very good cause and is greatly appreciated.

Thanks guys!

Terra put a lot of thought into the design of the T-Shirts which were designed to appeal to young folks, and were designed to generate questions and interest in amateur radio from the general public. Specifically, the phrase "Get Your FreQ On" and the Morse Code font should generate some questions about ham radio and open opportunities to share the hobby with others.

That got us to thinking about some other ways of generating questions and opportunities to talk about ham radio. We are going to have more t-shirts and also bumper stickers made which will focus on drawing attention from younger crowds. In fact, this will be a good topic for a new thread in this forum!

I think I'll post a new thread now and get some ORR input on the subject!
