Default So what fo you call this thing?

This is the little vent that goes to the LP gas bottle compartment.

I have tried every imaginable verbiage or phrase to get search engines to find me one on the internet. Even went to the Camping World site and searched there.

Somebody please tell me what to call it so I can order one.

It's called a louvered battery box vent.

Apparently there is no such thing as an "LP bottle compartment vent" even though that's what it DOES, it is apparently not what it IS.

Found them here for $1.88 each. Reasonable shipping. As high as $6 each on ebay.

Me, I know what I'd call it. But this is a gentlemanly group.

Anyway, you couldn't find it on eBay or elsewhere by the name I would use.

I guess you'd say I was calling it, or giving it, "what fo".

It's like using a dictionary for a door stop. Do I call it what it is or was it does?

I also googled "cracked, broken, faded" and "damaged"... I got pictures of me.

I bought the 5th wheel in July of 2008. The way it's parked in the yard this is on the southern exposure side. The other side is not much better. I wonder if a coat of white paint would make it last longer?

See if this helps.. You get them at Home Improvement stores (Lowes,Home Depot, Lumbaryard) not RV dealers)

Actually I found the exact replacement, and for only $2 each.

What had me going was looking for a LP gas compartment vent. All it is, is a battery box vent stuck over a round hole in the side of the trailer. If you look for battery box vent you will (eventually) find one.

Well, the battery box vents a.k.a LP bottle compartment vents arrived today. Now I'm wondering what kind of caulk to use on it.

I'm thinking whatever is in the garage or what the boss might loan me at work.

Why caulk it at all? It's not as if it were supposed to seal up the opening it goes over. Well, maybe the screw holes, if they go into wood or something.

The factory caulked it around the edges. I suspect to keep water out of the wall structure. If caulk were not needed, I suspect the factory would have not bothered and added the few pennies to the bottom line.

I suspect any UV resistant white caulk would do the trick. Now to get out of buying any for this little bitty project.
