Smile New to Open Roads

Hello everyone. I am new to the Open Roads Forum. I don't have a RV yet but I am looking at buying one in the Near future when the XYL approves. When I do buy an RV I want to Ham it up while camping.

Welcome aboard Daniel!
I used to have a pop up and a Travel Trailer
Now my XYL and and I have a park model with an attached sun room at a seasonal RV resort in Freedom, NH. For hamming, I use an FT857 into an LDG ATU feeding a G5RVjr dipole hung in the trees.
Lots of good Camper/Hams and info on this site, so sit back, ask questions, post photos and enjoy yourself.

That is a very good point for many reasons.. A good camper WITH ham gear is a mobile command center or net control in time of disaster.

And by the same token,, There are many places where a flat tire without communications... *IS* A disaster (As in you die before help arrives) and in most of those places your Cell phone... Is a paper weight.

Your ham gear however, can easily jump hundreds or even thousands of miles to someone with a working telephone who can summon HELP for you.

True story: Read yesterday's ARRL newsletter.. It happened. (not a flat though).

I get it via E-Mail but you can likely find the story of the hikers who got lost and found at www.arrl.org

And I should not have to tell you that URL.

Click n NEWS, then on the Amateur radio credited with in rescue wayward hikers

Or just Click here

Ted,
I have the N. Conway and Mt. Wash repeaters programmed. We have a seasonal camp in Freedom, NH off Rt. 153 at an RV park. Hope to catch up with you on the air this summer.

Great, we do an ARES net and a local net Friday and Sat. evenings at 7:30 and meet at the Conway library the second Thursday of each month at 5:30-6:30. I'm pretty much on 6 meter AM every evening around 7:30 on 50.400 and 60 meters in the evening also when I can't find any one on 6. I'm pretty sure I know where the park is off 153.

I'm pretty sure we talked on 6m am last year. We stay at Danforth Bay Camping Resort in the Bluffs (over 50) part. Let me know the freqs for 6m and the nets. I also have W1BST in the HT and the FT857.
