Rooftop AC Maintenance - Fins

This damage can be caused by hail and debris blown by the wind. When the fins of your rooftop AC look like this the AC may not operate efficiently. The unit may even freeze over resulting in no cool air at all.



Combs like this can be purchased at almost any auto parts store for around $10.



After about an hour of patient work on my AC fins, this is what my AC looks like now--Ready for summer. To prevent future damage to the fins I am purchasing the fin guard at the link below.

Good advice, and not only to comb the fins if ineeded but to clean them.

As you all know you can't run two rooftop A/C's on a 30 amp site, at least not at the same time w/o cheating (I cheat, usually)

Well,,, I did it last summer,,, Just after a good cleaning.
