Hi Ken. I'll be down your way next week, soon as I can walk again. Plan to to try to be in Palacios to chase down a couple of redfish. Should have all my radio stuff on the air by weekend.

Reminds me of the time Mr Smith visited his banker. They had finished their business and Mr Smith was about to leave when the banker spoke.

"Mr Smith, before you leave, could you spare a little time to do me a favor?"

"Why, yes, I suppose so. What is it?"

"Well, Mr Smith, many years ago, in a tragic accident, I lost an eye. Ever since, I've worn a glass eye. Because of a more recent misfortune, I've had to replace that glass eye with a new one, and I'm concerned about its appearance. I'd be grateful if you would look at my eyes to see whether you can tell which is the glass eye."

"Well, let me see. Come a little closer -- yes, I'm sure the right eye is the glass eye."

"How certain are you?"

"I'm quite certain. The right eye is the glass eye."

The banker was crestfallen. "Well," he said, "that's right. Would you mind telling me how you knew?"

Mr Smith replied, "Well, it looked a little kinder."

Of course, this can also be told as a lawyer joke instead of a banker joke.

Doc, my dipole is not operational at the moment, but I do ahve the vertical still working. Dang tree-rats have eaten something they should not eat. Got to track down the break.

let me know when you get an antenna up and we can try a contact. I am about 25 miles NW of Houston.

Ken, the doc cleared me to travel today, so I'll be in Palacios Tuesday. Should have the Comet up by Wednesday and ready to talk. I'll drop you an e-mail and we can find a frequency to try to make contact. I'll be coming thru Houston Tuesday morning on 2 meters if you're going to be on the air, I'll give you a call. I usually monitor 146.52 when I'm travelling.
