Default KI6DIU intro

I am a relatively new Ham though many years ago that is what lead me to an eventual career as an electronics engineer doing embedded software development. I got my license about two years ago because I was involved with the Red Cross ECRV.

As a kid I found the ARRL Handbook at the local library but a trip to Des Moines or Saint Louis was not possible. The military, school, and a family pushed other than occasional thoughts of an amateur license out of my mind. Now that I am retired there is time to look to those things I have always wanted to do.

I am a somewhat full timer. I spend winters in Southern California and the rest of the time where ever. Currently the trailer is on an organic vegetable farm in Hollister, CA and I will be there in a week or so for a little kayaking at Moss Landing and helping out by fixing tractors. Sometime in May I will be heading for the Missouri Ozarks for a little fishing, kayaking, helping repair an A-Frame house, and drinking some excellent craft beer. Sometime in the fall I plan to be in Asheville NC for some kayaking, helping my son get his license, and drinking some excellent craft beer. By late fall I will be back in Southern California home of Stone Brewing.

I claim to be retired but that is a dubious claim at best. I am living off my small savings with no other income. I park at people places for free and help them out as needed.

Good deal, well if the paperwork arrives soon enough and you head north and decide to go to the Hamfest let me know and we might be able to have a eye ball QSO. Would be fun!

Howdy sir and welcome to the forum! Fulltiming across the country sounds great, even if you have to play "catch-up" for some extra cash.

Great place here to meet fellow hams / RVers!

Welcome!
I was stationed at Fort Ord in the 1969s for radio school with the US Army.
They even made me learn 15 WPM of that CW stuff!
It used to be a pretty area but things have changed all over CA over the years.
Too many people for me!

You just never know what common bonds you might find on these forums. San Marcos, CA on a friday or saturday evening at Stone is a good place to be. I also am on the lookout for fine crafted brews across the nation. Now in Apple Valley, hoping that Big Foot comes out before I have to leave for Idaho. Oggi's here has a fine double IPA. Welcome aboard

The Oggi's here has a fine brew. San Diego is a good place for craft brews with Stone, Green Flash, The one that took over the old Stone facility, and others. Anotehr favorite place is Asheville, NC.

Guess I better re-check Ashville next time through. Smoke Mountain in Nashville, TN and Browmstone Brewhouse in Idaho Falls are worth a stop.
