We had a pretty good field day here in LA. We were set up at the fair grounds located in Rayne. We were under a large pavilion and did not have to worry about the sun too much.
Got to the site about 9 am and helped set up. Got on the air and made several contacts. The most exciting contact was W1AW on 15 meters
. another guy and I tried for a solid 20 minutes to get through to W1AW with no luck. We asked a yl to sit down at the radio and give it a go. She was able to make contact on the very first try. It was very exciting for me
The girls could not go out Saturday because of other obligations, but asked to go today. We got back to the site around 8:30 and the girls were able to get on the radio. Between the two of them, they were able to get about 12 contacts in about 30 minutes. They were very excited and said they had a good time.
Good conversation, good friends, good food and good times....(oh I also learned a little too!)
