Default Interstate 93 in New Hampshire

just a curiosity, there is a stretch of I-93 south of Littleton, NH, that is one lane in each direction.

Not due to roadwork, its just built that way.

Never have seen this anywhere else in the US, anyone seen a single lane interstate anywhere else?

Interesting. I followed it on Google Earth, and it's four lanes divided from Littleton to Franconia, but continuing south from Franconia it's one lane each way, nearly all the way to Lincoln, where it again becomes four lanes divided.

Something like 20-24 miles one lane each way. Strange people, those Yankees.

Must not be much traffic there.

Yes there is a sensitive natural area that becomes a parkway for about 9 miles around where the Old Man of the mountain once was.

Thanks for the info on that. There was not a lot of traffic when we drove it but it wasn't a weekend either.

We stopped at the Old Man of the Mountain site. They have an interesting exhibit where you stand at a specific place on a plaza and align a figure on a pole with the mountain so u can see what it looked like before it collapsed.

One more thing we can cross of the bucket list.

Now if we could just get to Alaska somehow..........
