Default Checked out RV sites around Lake Allatoona

We went to take a look at possible campsites at 4 of the 8 COE campgrounds around Lake Allatoona a little north of Atlanta near I-75. I only found 2 of the 4 that were what I would consider. The two I didn't like were "Old Highway 41# Campground" and "McKaskey Creek Campground". The Highway 41 campground was too close to I-75 and it was difficult to even talk to people because of the highway noise. Very few decent campsites. The McKaskey Creek campground was an OLD campground and very small. And, the host said site #7 was the only level pad. It was also the smallest campground of the ones I visited.

I also went to "Clark Creek North Campground". It was a small campground with only 24 sites and of those only 3 were suitable for my use.

The best one was "McKinney Campground". A number of nice back-in and pull-thru's. They have a total of 150 RV sites with 139 of them that can be reserved and 11 walk-ups. A good number of good lake view sites. If you go to "Recreation.gov" you can see photos of actual camp sites. Two different costs, $26 and $30 less 50% for seniors. I have a lifetime senior pass so not sure what admission cost is.

I also checked out "Red Top Mountain State Park". Only one small area of the park was for RV camping protected by a gate/keypad. Finding a level pad would be a challenge. The roads were asphalt but barely 10' wide and I would not be able to maneuver my 28'er through there because of some of the tight turns. A motor home could never maneuver the roads. Would be great for tent camping but not much else in the way of camping.

I want to check out some of the other state parks around the area in the next couple weeks. Chattahoochee Bend will be my next visit and maybe "Sloppy Floyd State Park". I'm hoping Chattahoochee bend will be decent since it is only a couple years old.
