Yeah, it does that. It's an oscillator, with a frequency of about .00000144 Hz. Wavelength is about 22 light-years.

Not a very good oscillator, either -- lots of phase noise.

The sun is not the only "magnetic pole flipper."

The earth's magnetic poles also flip, but the period is much longer.
