For a good nights sleep...
For a good nights sleep you might try a week in a state park.
Doctors orders.

I do. 100 watts. But I have a quad at 70 ft.
But if you don't want o play DXCC then you could always go camping without your electronics.

Well, lessee -- let's assume, modestly, that the quad has 6 db gain. That ought to be about right.
Then, with 100 watts and 6 db gain, that's 400 watts ERP. Not too bad.

100 watts "ERP" on 60 meters. Not a 100 watts then 6dB gain.

Ja. But I was responding to Wade's 100w + quad. I don't think he meant to be on 60 meters. A 60 meter quad would be a really big antenna.
Besides, being limited to 100w ERP, as we all are on 60, the only reason for a quad would be better receive. Ja?

Yeah don't you love that? I'm 59 but you have no idea what I'm are saying to you? Could be everyone esle is 59 too?
Yeah I was speaking of doing the contest with 100w into the quad. And it's just a 5 band 2 element.
I really like the quiet receive, though

The Camp ground owners are shooting for April 19th for opening day.
If that works out, we will be on the road from CT to NH EARLY on the 19th to open up. Last photos showed my G5RVjr still up. Quick question, if the wire is touching a branch on both ends, will it affect the tuning/swr to a great extent, or could the LDG tuner take care of it? I'm planning to test it when we go up on 4/19.

I think it would be likely to detune it severely. The ends are high-voltage, zero-current points normally, but with tree branches contacting both ends the antenna will likely be (1) longer electrically, and (2) lossy.
On the other hand, a G5RV is, in general, a rather nebulously tuned antenna anyway. I'd try it. If it tunes, and the trees don't catch fire, it'll likely get out OK. LDGs can tune almost anything.

Thanks Carl,
Just hoping not to have to rehang the antenna this Spring. Maybe the branches will burn off, they are very thin where they touch. We'll see.

So, when is NearFest? I guess I'll have to Google it and get the address. I went one year from camp and I think it took about an hour from Freedom, NH. Hope to get there this year.

Deerfield fair grounds grounds http://www.near-fest.com:8084/nearfest/ Yeah it's about an hour from Freedom I go down the night before and camp then we set up the tables for the clubs stuff Friday morning and leave late Sat. afternoon. Stop by we are usually behind the big newish white building as you come in, MWV ARC. Our club repeater is W1MWV 145.45 100HZ pl you should have no issue getting into it from Freedom it's on top of Mt Cranmore. Give a shout on 145.45 simplex if you come.
