Yeah, me too. Just bought a new camera (well, a couple weeks ago) and I'm working on a way to organize the pics. The new camera lets me specify part of the filename it gives to each pic, and I'm gonna change it each month so the filename tells me when I took the pic. Maybe A01 for 2001 January, B12 for 2002 December, and so on. I wonder if it'll let me use Greek or Cyrillic letters if I live past Z12 (2026 December), which isn't all that likely but is possible. The menus support various languages that use various alphabets. Gotta run an experiment.
Hmmm, it also supports German (ÜÖÄ), Spanish (ÑÇ), and Portuguese (ÃÕ). Mebbe I could live even longer ...
I've lived in Florida, off and on, for 35 of my 74 years, and never been to Key West. Shame on me.
*** Later *** The camera supports only the English alphabet for file naming. Can't use other alphabets in filenames. Phoo.

Yah, it has a lot of info in the metadata. Time, date, camera, camera settings, lens, focal length, focused distance, f-stop, shutter speed, white balance, how I was holding the camera (really!), and who knows what all.
But before I can right-click the pic, I have to find the pic, and usually I want to find the pics shot on a certain date or dates. Naming by date will help a lot.
I can specify the first three characters of the filename , and I've decided on 15A for 2015-January, 15B for 2015-February, and so forth. This month is 15G, next month is 15H, et cetera. January of next year will be 16A. My 100th birthday will occur in 40K. That system need not be changed unless I live to be 160 years old, which is improbable even for me.

One of my favorites, "Dunmovin, California". I imagine that's where someone's wagon broke!
Here in Nevada we have places called Arabia, Bolivia, Bullfrog, Carp, Devil's Throat, Jiggs, Rabbithole and a bunch of Indian names that I can't even pronounce.

Get a map of the Appalachian Trail... the names of some of the places and features can be interesting, from the tame stuff like Standing Indian and Cowpens, to the more outlandish stuff like Picken's Nose.
