It is fun. Here's another favorite flashmob of mine, this time of children flashmobbing (is that a word?) in a shopping mall. The performance isn't perfect, but for kids that young it's incredibly good. The little girl with the huge drum is a total hoot.

These are high school chorus kids at the Kentucky All State Chorus festival.

Each night of the event all of the kids from all of the choruses sing the National Anthem from the balconies of their hotel. All of the best voices in the state. Check out the sopranos on the last few high notes. (At least 5 distinct soprano parts.)

They do this every year, there are several versions available.

Forwarded it to my daughter (music major) esp for that last soprano part.

Having attended several music events when my kids were in high school, I can attest that there are a lot of very talented teens out there who can really sing!

Aye, sir. Here's one that started it all. They've taken the Sound of Music sound track and dubbed in stuff that craps the music up a bit, for me at least, but I love this video anyway. Great fun!

Yeah I put the Wanamaker/Macy's video up on facebook every Christmas.

I'm glad the Wanamaker's are wealthy. I'd hate to be poor with a handle like that. And the organ has an interesting history as well.

I just Wiki'ed up the Wanamaker organ. Amazing machine. Slowly built up over decades. Many famous "long-hairs" have written music pieces specifically for it, or arrangements specifically for it. When you see names like Leopold Stokowski being impressed enough to write a special orchestra / organ transcription of a Bach piece for the Wanamaker and "his" orchestra, ya' just gotta know that this is something very special indeed. Thank goodness it has been preserved through its various owners for about 100 years and has a "Friends" society to watch over its upkeep.

I don't think "impressive" is a big enough word to describe it. It is almost like they built the store around the organ... Then they kept adding to it!

Something a little different: On Ukraine's Got Talent, a powerful presentation by Кнесия Симонова (Knesiya Simonova) in another medium. She presents her message movingly, and it's appropriate for anyone in that unfortunate country.

Soon we'll get back to music, which is happier stuff, but this blows me away totally.
