Need some help here
I also own part of www.harleydavidsonbikers.com and I have a VERY good friend over there that is in the firing line of Gustav.
My friend uses his call there and he is KD5CQT
I just moved today to Tupelo for my new career and only have 2m here at the campground.
Will someone please join that site that has HF and help me keep in touch with my friend and as communicate his potential needs to the HDB members?
We are commincating in this thread

OK...latest stuff! We have been on duty all day today at the Pascagoula EOC. Gustav is looking like landfall around Morgan City, LA. It still presents a lot of problems for us on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, but New Orleans may cease to exist after Monday if things go just a little more bad than already in the cards. I am going to be scarce for a couple of days as I do my thing with Civil Defense. Mike, if you have your radio, check the state net on 3.862, I may be able to pass you some stuff although I am going to be splitting time between radio, Law enforcement, and emergency ops for the county. Also am liason to the military...damned penalty for knowing how to salute.
I am batened down here, have everything under control as far as I can against Ma Nature. You guys all be safe and heave a little prayer this way for the folks in the path of this storm...it be one bad-assed mofo.
Will chekc in with y'all later. Time for some sleep! It'll be the last I get for a while!

OK, I joined the biker forum. If we could keep the HF rig tuned to 3.862 and listen out for Mike's friend Daryl, KD5CQT. Make a note of what, if anything, he needs or message to be relayed and post it here in this thread, and Mike or I will transfer it over to the biker forum.
Some of you old retired guys need someting to do...

I'll listen out to 3.862 Mike. Will post anything back here. Ocean Springs, if that's his QTH is probably going to get hit hard.

I'm listening on 3.862 and no copy. I do hear some folks on 3.860. Just sounds like a regular QSO. Haven't made out the calls yet, although one of the hams is called Mike from LA. Coincidence?

Have been in and out of the radio room most of the day. Listened to 3.862 when not on HWN. There was some Mississippi traffic net stuff, but did not hear KD5CQT

Wow. What a great thing. Sorry about 3.862. We got slammed in the EOC and I had a former student of mine running the emergency net for me. Since he opnly holds a Tech class, I had to keep him on 2 meters and funneled stuff through the state net that way. If I had known about this, I'd have put some fire in the HF wire and tried to make contact with you all. I did manage to talk to Tonya and Jim. Thanks for being there, my great friends. It sure does one good to get a boost from people such as all of you that I get when I can find the opportunity to meet or just chat. And believe me, I needed that little pick me up because I have had about 30 minutes of sleep since I left the house the other day. That stupid storm was very difficult in its behavior and we just had to keep on top of things. I have been doing interviews for my brother (the EMS director) and manning the phones among other things. Many thanks to you all for this great thought. And to you guys at the radio site, best 73 to you all de KD5CQT. ...-.-

I came into the radio room and listened several times during the day but heard no traffic at all. Glad your friend did OK.
