Default New member in Texas

Hi,
Just signed up today. I saw the post on QRZ.com. I'm 47 years old. I've been an RVer for over 20 years. I've been in amateur radio since this spring, and a general class since July. I've been around other radios for over twenty years through my career in law enforcement. Got my general ticket about 90 days after my technician, then into Texas state RACES/ARES and also I am a ARRL VE. The home HF radio is a Yaesu FT-77 with a SGC SG-103 mulitband folded dipole wire. The home 2M is a Yaesu 1802 with a Hustler 2M verticle at 65 feet. Mobile radios (dual bands) are Yaesu 7800. The interest in amateur radio began because I am one of the commanders in our County Emergency Management and we work closely with area hams.

Our Rv is a 2001 Holiday Rambler 30SKS fifth wheel and our tow vehicle is a 2001 F350 Super Duty Diesel dually. The truck has a dual band radio in it. I've been a longtime member of iRV2.com (a great family rv website) and I went ahead and posted about this site on their forum since many iRV2.com members are also hams. Since I still work full time, I am not a full time RVer. We live on a ranch in Uvalde County Texas.

Welcome to the ORR.net!!
We could use a little law enforcement here as our frontier town is growing really fast!

Another new Texas member here. About 30 miles NW of Houston. Still working fro a living.

The rig in my truck is an Icom 208H with a dual band Larsen antenna. Working on getting a mobile HF rig...maybe for Christmas if I am a good boy.

Call is KE5DFR and a General class studying fro the extra. Electricity and radio theory do not come easy for an old Mechanical Engineer.

Wow Texas is sure being represented here OK where are all you California Hams? I'm not a real true California Ham, I'm from Spokane, WA and got transplanted here due to the AF and the Wife is from here and doesn't want to leave.

Anyway welcome to the group Ken, I really like the state of Texas and can't wait until I can retire and spend some time traveling through Texas and you do need a lot of time to travel throughout Texas.

Robert, we never have been able to hook on the air. I was barely able to be heard in west Texas the other night on the net.

Wow, when do we get our Texas Forum or at least a Okie -Texas forum.....

Ken
