I could just hear N5EJK on 7230 at 1740 UTC, but can't get my antenna resonant on that freq anymore since wind damage. I'll be putting up a G5RV in the spring, but can't do much on 40 until then. I will listen for you guys from time to time, though.

18:00 UTC, 7.230, I can hear voices but they are in the noise and I can't make them out. Anyone on? Once may antenna gets wet I can't seem to tune up. I think I just need to insulate the feed wire better.

Al (WB4VYH) and I had a great QSO on 7230. What time was it Al ? It was probably about 1030 hours CT. A little QSB but basically very good. Had a great copy on him most of the time.
I enjoyed it. I don't care what they say about those "mountain people", Al's a good guy.

It was a good QSO, plus I got to "road test" my new 80 M Ladder line fed Dipole on 40M.
I thought the QSO was around 12:30-1:00 EST (hey, I'm retired) but I didn't write down the time! Anyway, it was a good "old time" RagChew and I learned I had missed that! Thanks for the FB QSO Jim!
I will be out and about some today, gonna exercise the MH, and fill it up with fuel while I am out. Tomorrow I hope to take it "dry" camping for a few nights at a local State park. It's too early in the season to de-winterize! On the other hand the wx is mild enough to go RVing!
If I am home around noon or so, I will have the rig on 7230!

Now that Mike has the "DX Spotter" room set up we should be able to tell rather quickly if we can make a go of a QSO and what band might be best.
Thanks again Mike for your efforts.
Anyone ready to set one up for Tuesday ? A QSO that is ?

Wow !!! The new dx spotter makes it quick and easy. Andy and I were on the spotter this morning, went to 75 meters then to 40. One freq was busy so Andy sent another and BINGO !! We were there. Condix were terrible and could not make a good contact but we could hear each other. We were going on to 20 meters but ran out of time.
I've been logged onto it all day but marked as "away", when not around. You can turn the speaker volume up when not in the room and hopefully hear someone when they log on. You do not have to log into the forum first if you prefer not to, you can bookmark the spotter site and login from there.
The dx spotter is the "cat's meow" !! Thanks again Mike.

Hi Gentlemen,
I got my new Double Bazooka up for 75/80 meters. I can tell a huge difference on receive. Much better signals than before. I cut the old antenna down for 40 meters and it's working great. Don't even have to use the tuner in the line while in the phone portion of the band. I think I'm going to try building a Double Bazooka for 40. Have any of you guys used one ? I am impressed. This one works so well I may just buy one for 40, it will be awhile before I have time to build one.
I have a small program that computes the length of coax and end terminations for a Double Bazooka if anyone is interested. It is small enough it can be attached to an e-mail.
I'm going fishing this morning, I'll be back by 1300 hours CDT. If someone would like to set up a sked during the afternoon post a time. I'll meet you on the DX Spotter and we will go from there. With the DX Spotter online now, we can get things together quickly.
Thanks and have a great weekend everyone.
Jim

I will watch DX spotter to try to connect with someone today. I am in and out as this past weeks chemo has been the worst yet on me but I am still hanging on and not giving up.

Came in from fishing later than expected Mike. I didn't get a chance to get on, sorry.
Sorry to hear the chemo is having such an affect on you Mike. I hope you get to feeling better soon. Your last report stated the chemo was working, so you have to keep that in mind. You are in our prayers friend. Hope to talk to you soon.
We have to go over to Panama City Beach (yuk !!) to the daughter's today. She has a computer problem she needs some help with. Hopefully it is something I can help her with. So, I'll not be around today for long. I dread going to Panama City Beach. It's Spring Break, the crowds, the traffic and I don't have to mention the kids.

Mike and I had a great QSO on 40 meters yesterday around 1630 hrs CT. Signals were not strong but were consistant for awhile. I was glad to get connected to Mike. It only took a few seconds arranging things from the dx spotter.

Sked
Anyone want to get a group together in the morning ? I know Ken works on Saturdays so he possibly cannot make it. Let's meet on the DX Spotter at 1000 hours ET. That's 0900 Central (my time). I should have had several cups of coffee by then. Some of you guys on the west coast get on as well if possible. We will meet up on the Spotter and decide which bands and frequencies to go to from there. If no radio contact we will at least QSO via keyboard.
Anyone game please give me a thumbs-up ? I'll be there the Good Lord awilling.

Mark, Mike and I met on the DX Spotter Sat. morning. I could hear Mark on 40 meters and he could hear me but not good. Twenty meters was too long for all of us. One day it will work out though.
Hope everyone had a great Easter with good food, family and friends. Remember the reason for the holiday ?

Good morning from the Sunshine State, where we received in excess of 5 inches of rain yesterday.
Looks like more rain instore today, wx man says 70% chance. I'll be inside for the most part today if anyone would like to attempt a QSO on SSB or PSK31 ? I'll log into the "DX Spotter" and leave the spotter on with the volume turned up. If I'm not near the computer, maybe I'll hear you login, so make as much noise as toy can.
Have a great day all !!
