KU4OJ puts up a new one - Savage Island, GA
We're taking the trailer out for spring break April 4 - 7, 2009 to Fort McAllister State Park, (GA) near Savannah. The campground in the park is on an island, Savage Island, which has never been activated before in the US Islands Awards Program.
We'll try to be on mornings and evenings (or whenever I can get the best propagation!) on or near 14.260 and 7.225 MHz.

Looking forward to working you on the island Wade. Will you have wi-fi for the dx-chat? Let us know as best you can and have fun!

No, I rather doubt it, most GA parks only have wi-fi at the ranger station.

We will be on the road then, but I plan to operate some HF. 04 through 08 April, we will be a Fort Davis State Park which is in Jeff Davis County, Texas. If any one needs the county, I will try operating 14.280 or 7.250, +/- depending on other stations during the day and or early evening.
On 03/04 April we will be driving from north of Austin, Texas west to Fort Davis and on 09 April we will be driving down to San Antonio. If you need any of the counties between these places, let me know and we can try to set some times to link up.

We'll be pulling out of the drive about 6 am tomorrow. (Fishermen aren't the only ones who take their fun seriously! Will try to crank up on 20m Saturday evening as the terminator passes over. We'll see!!
See you on the radio near 7.225 and 14.260.

Sorry to dissappoint everybody but I can't seem to get signals in or out of here. This is the first chance I've had at the WiFi. The weather here has been very wet and with severe storms and such. Our site was 4" underwater! (Glad we weren't in a tent!)
Today the small craft advisory is out because of the 35+ knot winds.
I did work Alaska, and North Dakota and a guy about 40 miles from here. I don't think I am at all happy with my $400++ TW2040 thus far, but since I can't seem to hear anything either that may not be the issue. I think I just need some sunspots...I was on the air 6 hours and made 3, yes 3 contacts. Phooey. Somebody please tell me it's the bands!! It did seem to be the few people I heard were running power and big antennas.
I have gathered up a few decent pics of the park (Savage Island and Ft. McAllister itself) so I'll post them in the gallery when we get back.
So I gave up on the radios...stored them away and now I think I'll make the peach cobbler I promised the nice Canadians in the pop up next door. They have been living in the pop up for 4 month!! Tough people!!!
More when I get back.
KU4OJ, QRT. Sorry.
