Trip - Birmingham, AL - 2nd Trip in 2009
Morning Guys,
Packed up and headed up the road to Birmingham, AL in a couple of hours. We have to be in Calera, AL the 26th to have our dealer ( Burton Campers) correct several items (punch list) on our 5er. Since we're going to be on the road anyway we thought we would mix a little business with pleasure. Plans are to be out for 2 to 3 weeks. After getting the "punch list" completed we have no real plans.
Plans are to stay overnight tonight at Capitol City RV Park in Montgomery, AL. Leave there tomorrow (Monday) for Birmingham South Campgrounds in Pelham, AL. We've been at the Pelham location several times in the past and lots to do and see around there. A lot of good restaurants in the area too. Thursday morning it's a 15 mile run back down to the dealer in Calera. Not sure what we will do after that. It depends on what time we leave the dealership.
I was told by a fellow amateur operator about a SP near Opp, AL. Frank Jackson SP, suppose to be very nice. WiFi, full hookups, etc... We've discussed stopping off there for several days on the way home. Also, discussed the possibility of swinging east and visiting the Stephen Foster SP on the Suwannee River. We have not been there since we were kids. I recently saw some photos on another RV Forum that reminded me how nice it was.
Will have the HF rig and laptop along. Will login when we can and also try to get on the dx spotter.
73,
Jim

I have a map of the US spread out on the dining room table, and a little toy RV that I move around with a stick every time Jim posts.
And you believe that, right?

Since we are talking travelling, is anyone heading to New Mexico next month for The Rally. We'll be there with W5UD and the xyls for the 15th thru the 21st.
Only plan on 2 meters, so I'm assuming only local contacts. If W5UD gets real excited, he might bring that magic 8 foot antenna that Radio has. Then we might get out a little further. ;-)
Always enjoy the reports of adventures.

A little further than I can go right now Mac. I would sure like to make it out that way one day though.
We have had some bad weather here the past couple of days. Can't complain though, we're doing fine compared to a lot of others caught up in the flooding situations we've been watching on the Weather Channel. I wonder if any of our ORR Members are concerned with problems from flooding ? If so, would like to hear from them.
We're in Ozark Travel Park, near Ft. Rucker and Ozark, Alabama. This is a great park. No worry with leveling, all the sites are level and concrete. Full hookups, speedy wifi and the best cable TV I've seen in a park.
I'm wondering if Wade has been dripping water on his toy RV and map. It's been a little damp.

Jim

We're taking the antenna to Savage Island (new one, GA038) April 4 - 7.
Listen up near 14.260 and 7.227
