Default I think I am going to work for Dell

I think I am going to call Dell and ask for a job!

My youngest dd's laptop quit working; it had no power when plugged in and wouold not charge the battery.

After searching on a couple of forums, came to realization that power plug was defective. Found one on Ebay and bought it. When it arrived, promptly put it up and looked at it for about a month before finally deciding to tackle the job.

I can honestly say that I never want to do that again.... I wound up taking the whole thing apart. Had to remove the main board to get to the socket. Soldered the new one in and reassembled the whole thing and only had one screw left over

I am now typing this message on said computer. Not too bad for about 4 bucks!

So, if anyone needs a new power socket installed in ther Dell laptop; customer service number for Dell is......

Hope everyone has a great Christmas!!!

You lucked out, I hear that for the same kind of repair on an HP you must buy the whole Mother Board.

Not sure about that, but it sounds plausible.
