Got another one....
My youngest daughter (11). Took the tech test last night and passed.
She had been taking a class at our local children's museum that three of us has been teaching. We had about 25 kids in the class with about 4 parents.
Testing last night 32 people total. Not sure of the pass numbers, but heard it was up around 20 or so.
The kids were mostly 6th graders taking the class for a science grade. The teacher took the course this year as well and was surprised at how hard it was to grasp some of the concepts (I think she has a new appreciation for the kids who passed in previous years. My oldest being one!).
Kendra has already picked out her new name badge, so as soon as her call is assigned, I will have to order it.
The club istrying to get a deal going to help buy radios for all those that passed. I hope they can work it out.

Congrats to your daughter Galen! It's great to see more new hams coming in to the hobby. I'm a VE myself and have helped give the test to about 50 people now, all of whom passed.

Well tell your daughter GOOD JOB for me will you.
Always nice to see youngsters getting on the air
Now.... Get her a General Class study guide (or even an extra but I"d go General first)
Fact: She is at the ideal age to study for a license or upgrade.. You see, just now she has a job.. Just like I had a job for many years (I'm now retired) but where my job was telling people where to go (Cops to be precise, I'm a retired dispatcher) hers is "Learning Stuff" yes, her job description is a single word "Student"
So education wise.. She is in her prime just now and it is way easier to study and learn.. when studying and learning is what you do for a living.
Just like it's easy for me to give directions

Congrats to Kendra!! But now Galen, you're gonna have to share your radios more. Oh well, time to go out and get some more. Great to see more new Hams getting into the hobby.

I promised a ht to Abbi when she got her ticket. Now I have to do something for Kendra.
The local club has agreed to help subsidize new radios to all the techs that passed this last time. There were 19 kids that signed up stating they wanted a radio. Our club meeting this past week voted to pitch in a third of the cost with another third coming from local businesses and then the kids would come up with the last third. 10 members donated the third for the club on the spot! We are hoping that by helping the kids get a radio they will stay interested in the hobby.
We are trying to get enough kids involved to start a weekly kids net. Hope it works out!!
Will keep you updated.
