Old military themed TV shows.
Sweet Wife and I were watching MASH reruns. Got to thinking how many old TV shows there were out there that had a military theme:
MASH
McHale's Navy
Combat!
How many can we come up with?
We've been around long enough to have seen them all, but can we remember them?

NCIS and JAG are a couple of the newer ones, but it seems that every hero of the new action shows is an ex special forces, Seal, black ops, or some other combat hero.

How about a current one. "Falling Skies" on TNT. Although it is more of a underground resistance fighting back with military structure. From; Falling Skies
"At the center of the series is Tom Mason (Noah Wyle), a Boston history professor whose family has been torn apart. His wife was killed in the initial attack, and one of his three sons has been captured. Determined to get his son back and to ensure the safety of his other two sons, Tom must put his extensive knowledge of military history to the test as one of the leaders of the resistance movement known as the 2nd Mass, because of their location in Boston, Mass. They are constantly trying to gain intelligence about the aliens in order to one day outsmart and overtake them and hopefully rebuild their lives. "

"No Time for Sargents" was a movie, but wasn't it also a TV show? Not to admit my youthfulness but that one predates me a little bit.

I don't think A-Team was military, although, they sure acted like they were.
How about
'The Unit':
'Over There'
'Rin Tin Tin'
'Black Sheep'
'Band of Brothers' (mini series)
'Gomer Pyle USMC'
'JAG'
'The Silent Service'
'Twelve O'clock High'
'Tour of Duty'
There's more.

As a kid I did enjoy the 12 o'clock high series. Had to get my Dad to explain to me the significance of the phrase "12 o'clock high"
How about "Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea" with Admiral Nelson, Capt. Crane, etc. Never quite understood the relationship of "the worlds only privately owned nuclear submarine" and the Navy, but I guess if you have your own Nuke Sub, and it's armed with torpedoes, missiles and lasers, then the Navy is probably going to want in on that action!

The A Team was a military unit accused of a crime they did not commit which promptly escped from a miltary prison to the Los Angles underground..and so on (Blurb from start of show) The military was after them of course wanting to put 'em back inside.
Let's see. there was one "Operation Petticoat (Submarine, pink)(" as I recall, McHale's Navy. I used to watch F-Troup too, Heck, too many to remember. Black Sheep I still watch from time to time.
