Ernesto gets a promotion
We now have a CAT 1 hurricane down Mexico way. Not likely to bother us here in the states unless something strange happens...
Track it here: http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/

I guess Ernesto is back down to TS status after hitting the Yucatan with 85 mph winds.

He'll just be a depression when he gets into the Pacific. Wonder what he'll do then? Re-organize and go clobber California?
That happened once!

I was watching this with pretty good attention until a couple of days ago. Even drug the generator and fired it up too make sure it was good to go. Breathing a sigh of relief.
If you want a really good website for all things weather, try mikesweatherpage.com

Ernesto breathes his last...
I was really hoping Ernesto would make the land trip across Mexico and give us something interesting to watch in the Pacific, like an end run around Baja and a run up the west coast.
Ernesto, alas, never made the trip, and suffocated like a storm out of water.
I love the caption NWS put in the middle of this graphic, as if Ernesto possessed a living soul and has passed away quietly in the night. I guess I'm sick/weird but it just strikes me as funny in a bizarre sort of way. Perhaps the meteorologists form a bond with storms and hate to see them go.
Anyway....here lies Ernesto. Time of death, 10 am, Aug 10, 2012.
